Meet the Teacher

I'm thrilled to have the opportunity of teaching your child this year, and have an exciting year planned. I hope to enrich your child's educational experience.

In the first week of school you will be flooded with various forms and documents from the school office (as well as those in a letter your child should have received a few weeks before school started). These forms need to be read, filled out, signed, and returned to school with your child as soon as possible. Many of these papers simply review the school - as well as classroom - policies and procedures. Although your child and I will

discuss these in class, it is important for you to read this manual and sign the forms as well. Keep the "Survival Manual" handy for reference throughout the school year. However, should you misplace your copy, you can downoad another one from the "Useful PDF Forms" page.

Aside from the rules and procedures, I feel that it is important that you are aware of my teaching philosophy. My goals are to:

- Give students an education appropriate for their grade level and ability.

- Provide a comfortable learning environment for students.

I know that it is very important that the students in my class feel good about themselves and also as a class. I will do all that I can to give your child a positive experience in class that will promote a desire for success. I also know that success does not come without practice and work . The primary function of elementary school is to establish a foundation of basic learning and study skills on which to build a more complex knowledge. Learning is accomplished though a variety of methods. A balance of these methods helps to make learning fun. If students are having fun while they are learning, they will want to learn, and the things they learn will be better remembered.

I have also noticed that it is important that we communicate as parents and teacher. We need to work together for the academic success of your child. If you have questions at any time, send a note with your child, call me at the school (370-4630), or email me at jasonz@provo.edu

I am excited to begin the school year with your child!

Sincerely

Mr. Zimmerman
